.hack//EVERYTHING

Since .hack has such a wide variety of underlaying themes and topics, i figured that maybe they could be talked about here for anyone who knows about it....And even if you dont know about it, I (or whoever) can give you a brief introduction to the MMORPG called "The World" Which is where the epic story of ".hack" Takes place.

Well....I feel as though i should give an explanation on .hack to get any kind of disscussion started^^'

So, for the first 4 .hack games, the story takes place in the year 2010 (yay!) And the most popular online game is called "The world" with more than 2.1 million players world wide, there is no one who does not know of the online MMO called "the world". There are multiple kinds of classes that fit everyones playing styles, in a way, they made "The World" a place that everyone can enjoy. the main story focuses around a 15 year old boy who just logd into "The World" for the first time. He is a twin blade by the name of Kite. He joins the game by his friends request. His friend is Yasuhiko, his character name is Orca, who is a blade Brandier. In the game, He and one other player named Balmung are famous for beating a monster that was deemed undefeatable. this event was called "the One Sin". They Beat the monster and were forever known as Balmung of the Azure Sky and Orca of the Azure sea. Well, Orca offers to help Kite get used to the game. So as soon as Kite makes his character, he logs on and meets his friend, Orca. So Orca gives him the basic tutorial on how to create a field and how to work the Chaos Gate. The Chaos gate can be found in every Root town. So they warp to a field called "bursting passed over aqua field" Each area consists of 3 key words. the keywords are needed to create and access different area's in "the world"

So after they Warp there, They go through the field and proceed into the Dungeon. When they proceed inwards they see a floating girl being chased by a monster that obviously at a much higher level than the fields level. So Orca and Kite chase after it. they warp into a weird room, and there they see the girl in white offer Orca a book. This book is called "Key of the Twilight". The girl says "This book can bring either salvation or destruction at the whim of the user". After that, the grotesque monster appears, He brings up his wand and destroys the girl in white with a move called Data Drain. Before she dies, she says her name is Aura. Orca being at level 50 (which is a really high level) starts to attack the monster. No attacks hit him, let alone damage him. He instructs Kite to Run, but as soon as he says that, he uses data drain on Orca, putting him into a coma. The book floats over to Kites Character. The monster otherwise known as Skeith begins to data drain Kite, but is stopped abruptly and Kite is transported out of the area.

This is the opening scene of .hack//Infection.

His first companion is a heavy blade called Blackrose. At this Time, Kite is still dazed by what just happened. So the girl, Blackrose, invites his to an area called "Hidden Forbidden Holy ground". So, without any questions, he follows her. there, no monsters appear, there are no treasure chests either. the only thing thats there is a roman style church that has a statue of the goddess placed within. she is binded by 8 chains. on the stone infront of her states 8 names, yet only 3 of them are still readable. Skeith the Terror of Death, Innis the Mirage of deceit, and Magus the propogation. After Blackrose reads that a monster pops out of no where--this shouldnt be happening. So, Blackrose panics and Kite kills the monster. but then "noise" envelops the screen. this noise is like static that glitches up the image pretty badly. The monster then gets back up and green hexagons cover its body, and its hip points--are infinite. So then, the Admin Balmung of the Azure sky comes down, and tells the two of them to run. this brings back unpleasant memories for Kite, and tells Balmung that he's not gonna run. so, with that, the book comes out, and opens in Kites hands. The book starts to re-write his character data. instead of his clothes being green, they change to a reddish orange. And odd symbols are drawn on his pants. Without him doing anything, an odd bracelet appears on his arm, and then he proceeds to use data drain on the data bug. this takes the virus from the monster and reduces it back to level one.

Balmung is shocked at this, and tells kite that he's surprised to catch the culprit so soon. He points his sword at kite and tells him to draw his sword. Kite Says that it wasnt him, but then Balmung tells him to save it for later, He sheathes his sword and walks away, saying that the next time they meet, they will be enemies, and he will kill Kite. After this event Kite and Blackrose leave the area.

Kite bears the rare item called the key of the twilight, and takes the form of a bracelet around his left arm. this allows him to use the very same power that put his friend Orca into a coma. Later on you find out that Blackrose's younger brother was also put into a coma, while he was playing an online game called "the World". So Kite and Blackrose are fighting for the same cause, therefore they become the focal points of the story.

So, to explain the link in my signature, here's what is going on.

What is this?
Are we just a bunch of whining fanboys and fangirls? No, we've got a legit cause for this! The ".hack//Link US" Campaign is a push to get Namco Bandai to localize the final .hack video game of the franchise in English. Let us repeat this; it's the final game - the end of .hack. .hack//Link was released on March 4th, 2010 for the PlayStation Portable in Japan, and to date has sold over 100k copies.

There's been roughly a 9 month gap in between the Japanese release to the current date, and Namco Bandai has had its poker face on for far too long. For those of you unfamiliar with Namco Bandai, they localized ALL of the major .hack video games for the United States and Canada. Namco Bandai is also responsible for localizing the "Tales" JRPG franchise in the United States.

Why worry, it's only been 9 months since the Japanese release?
This is true, but the past 7 .hack games localized in the United States by Namco Bandai had already been on store shelves within this 9 month window - and European fans haven't seen a game since the originals! Something is fishy and this is the first sign of bad things to come unless we start poking around for answers. Namco Bandai as a video game company has downsized dramatically over the last 9 months, with an estimated 650 jobs to be lost when all is said and done. The current rumor is that the American Namco Bandai division has gotten out of the JRPG localization business - which leaves us and our fellow "Tales" fans in the dark, and those Narutards stealing a poor translators’ precious time/life.

Namco Bandai has given the .hack community the silent treatment for 9 months. It's time for them to speak up - we deserve an answer and .hack//Link in English, especially since this is the final .hack game of the entire franchise! It has been no easy task getting a hold of Namco Bandai - even though dothackers.net had worked with them to help promote the .hack//G.U. trilogy circa 2006. So we're going to force them to notice the .hack fanbase by collectively poking them in the stomach, because .hack//Link is literally getting lost in translation!

There is an upcoming .hack movie! It looks absolutely brilliant! Supposedly its being released in January of 2012! Personally im excited for it, because its just a movie for .hack in general. Normally all of the other shows have had a premises in the games that were released slightly before the anime. (SIGN and liminality for the 4 original games, ROOTS for G.U. and Quantum for LINK)
